SCULPTURAL VESSELS
Belgin hand-builds each porcelain vessel in three carefully staged steps. In the first stage, she painstakingly layers rolled porcelain strips, allowing them to respond naturally to the movement of her hands, creating flowing, curvaceous lines. Each strip is secured individually to ensure it holds its form during the firing process.
In the second stage, openings are introduced into the vessel, inviting the viewer to gaze into its interior and creating a dynamic interplay between surface and space.
The final stage involves refining these openings to ensure they become seamless windows into the interior, allowing light and shadow to flow through the form. These vessels reflect Belgin’s ongoing exploration of space, resilience, and the unseen forces that shape our experience.
The pieces are fired to 1240-50C in oxidation. She further embellishes some areas with 23-carat gold leaf or gold lustre.
Pieces from the Sculptural Vessels series range from £650-2500
